Deco Milk
Coffee maker is nmaking cold coffee?
My partner and i had a Meyer Prestige Deco Digital Coffee Maker for christmas and were thrilled. We are now concerned that the coffee it makes is not very hot at all. People have suggested that cold mugs and cold milk aren’t helping but that doesn’t seem right to me as when we make instant it is obviously very hot. Does anyone have suggestions or would it be best to try and return it and try and get a new one?
I’ll start by saying that I’ve been roasting my own coffee beans for a couple years now and have researched the art of coffee brewing. I’ll also say that I know nothing of this particular coffee maker.
I do know that ideal brewing temperature for coffee is 200 degrees F. Many lower-end coffee makers (Mr. Coffee, for example) only brew at about 180-185. This frankly not hot enough to extract all of the flavors and aromas from the coffee.
Use a thermometer to measure the temperature of the coffee as it’s being brewed. If it’s nowhere near this temperature, then you have a defective machine.
I will say though, that the design of most brewers rely on the water being “sufficiently” heated in order to be forced threw the shower head of the coffee maker, but, again, that is only about 180-185 degrees F, not an ideal 200 degrees F.
